Beech River Mill Exterior Shutters are hand-made by skilled craftsman using only the finest materials and workmanship. Our job-specific woodworking equipment allows us to produce any louvered or paneled product you need. Below is a listing of some of our most popular model shutters. However, we have the ability match virtually any style of shutter brought through our doors.

Exterior Shutter Styles

The Boston Style Shutter WB-100

By far and away the most popular style shutter we offer. This style of shutter is the go to piece for many different applications. Finished thicknesses range from 1-1/8” to 1-3/8” Stiles 1-3/4” Top and Bottom Rails 2 3/8" Cross Rails 3 1/2". These can be furnished with horns (a one inch extension of the stile) at no extra cost. Cross rails can be positioned at any height. This shutter can have either fixed slats with control rods or can be made moveable.

The Beacon Hill Style Shutter CS-304

This shutter is commonly seen on the historic homes of Beacon Hill, and the South End in Boston. This design dates from the 1850's. Wide scalloped cornered louvers project beyond the face of the frame stock which is typically 1-3/8” to 1-3/4” thick. Cross rails can be positioned at any height.

The Salem Style Shutter CS-302

This style of shutter is commonly seen all around the historic coastal communities of northern Massachusetts. Including; Salem, Beverly, Swampscott, and Marblehead. The wide slats are tenoned into the vertical stiles. A vertical rectangular molding makes these shutters distinctive and unique. Cross rails can be positioned at any height.

The Marblehead CS-301

This early traditional coastal style shutter is shown with a simple molding and well spaced, wide bull nosed louvers. They are pitched at a shallower angle than a standard shutter and cast a much deeper shadow line.

The Portsmouth CS-300

This early Federal style shutter features bevelved slats at 3/8” x 2-1/4” and moldings at 5/16 x 1/2”. This shutter shows joinery of exposed beveled louvers and the absence of a horizontal middle rail. A molding is sometimes set back slightly and surrounds the panel.

The Virginian CS-303

This historically southern style shutter features a beveled louver with an applied molding. The wide frame and well spaced louvers give a heavy look to the shutter which makes it fitting for the plantation style homes of yesterday. This shutter often doesn't include a cross rail.

The Newton CS-305

This curved top shutter for Palladian style windows can be made in any size. We do require a template or a dimensioned drawing of the window. These shutters are seen on contemporary homes as well as historic buildings. Cross rails can be positioned at any height.

The Lowell CS-306

This heavy duty exterior shutter can be found on numerous historic industrial buildings, and turn of the century factories in the mill towns of Lowell, Lawrence, and Nashua. The most unique feature of The Lowell Shutter is its convex/concave beaded closure detail. See below for Styles

The Wellesley WB-202

The ever faithful basic flat panel shutter. Simple, clean, and to the point. Thicknesses range from 1-1/8” to 1-3/8” Stiles 1-3/4” Top and Bottom Rails 2-3/8” Cross Rail 3-1/2”. This shutter can also be furnished with cut-outs. Cross rails can be centered, or off set. Please be ready to specify placement of cross rails as needed. Custom made applied trim profiles available upon request.

The New Castle WB-202

Beech River's basic Flat Panel Shutter with a twist. Please review our cut-out profiles to see which option best suits your needs. We have well over 150 designs on hand. Don't see anything you like? Just ask! We can more than likely custom render a new cut-out design to fit your needs. Thicknesses range from  1-1/8” to 1-3/8” Stiles 1-3/4”  Top and Bottom Rails 2-3/8” Cross Rail 3-1/2”. Please specify placement of cross rail. Custom made applied trim profiles available upon request.

The Chestnut Hill WB-200

Our classic single sided raised panel shutter allows the option of a flat paneled look on the reverse side, offering two totally different looks on one shutter platform. Two shutters for the price of one! Or, we can fabricate this style with a double sided raised panel too. Custom made applied trim profiles available upon request. Thicknesses range from  1-1/8” to 1-3/8” stiles 1-3/4”  Top and Bottom Rails 2-3/8” Cross Rail 3-1/2” . These can be furnished with horns (a one inch extension of the stile) at no extra cost. Cross rails can be positioned at any height.

The Waltham WB-200

The Colebrook WB-201

You can have your panel and your louvers too! The unique WB-201 design offers the ventilation and privacy benifits of our louvered pieces, while giving you the option for some creativity by picking a custom cut-out for your top panel. Thicknesses range from 1-1/8” to 1-3/8” Stiles 1-3/4” Top and Bottom Rails 2-3/8”  Cross Rail 3-1/2”. Please specify placement of cross rails.

The New Englander BB-200

A New England Classic, our Board and Batten design features open boards, board widths to be determined based on need, spaced to whatever width is desired. Then we add symmetrical vertical batten stock 3" to 4" wide with exposed stainless fasteners. We can also blind plug the fasteners as needed. Made from 1-1/8" to 1-3/8" thick stock.

The Laker B-100

A Single Board with Battens. Fabricated from 1-1/8" to 2" thick random vertical stock with 3" to 4" wide battens. Although basic in form, this style of shutter is unsurpassed in function. For those folks requiring a rugged, simple design, capable of withstanding hurricane force winds and weather. We can also add our beading detail, or other custom trim profiles to dress up this simple design.
